It's money that they can earn by getting into a good study routine, and be rewarded for doing that. But also it helps them so that they don't have to take on as much paid employment during the week and they are able to spend more time then on their actual studies.

What we're finding is some of the students who don’t qualify for the bus pass are using their EMA money to enable them to catch public transport to get into school.
